What Kat says…

November 11, 2011

Kat has a pretty solid take on the Joe Paterno case. Yes, he did what the law required him to do, he told his boss about the allegations.

Kat’s opinion that I find hard to argue with, even if she weren’t my wife, is that if the student had told Paterno that Jerry Sandusky was a murderer, should he have only told his boss? Why is it different because Sandusky was “only” molesting boys?

He had a moral, ethical (and arguably legal) responsibility to tell the police. I don’t buy that there’s a difference.

The grand jury report clearly indicates that victim 6 was known to have been molested in 1998 when the University police and Pennsylvania Dept of Public Welfare investigated.

University police investigated Sandusky in 1998 for molesting 2 boys in the showers and apparently did nothing to prevent further abuse.

Centre County District Attorney, Ray Gricar declined to arrest Sandusky in 1998 despite his admission that he touched the boys in the shower.

The state Dept of Public Welfare interviewed Sandusky as part of the 1998 investigation but apparently did nothing to prevent future abuse.

It’s kind of scary to think that the PD may involved in the cover up — But who is the master mind?
