Star Trek: The Next Generation in HD

January 24, 2012

Here’s a report about how they’re updating ST: TNG into HD. It was originally shot on 35mm, but then all the editing and mastering was done on SD video. They’re going back to the original film and re-creating all the elements from there.

Retro Thing: Star Trek: The Next Generation – Beaming To Earth In HD.

Someone let me know when they get to the Borg two-parter. I think I still have a VHS around here that I taped off of TV when that aired. TV really doesn’t get much better than that season-ending cliffhanger.

Wow, Joe, I’m thrilled to my “warp core” that you decided to write about the new Next Generation in HD. I saw a bit of the new HD footage on http://www.trekmovie.com, and I was amazed how great this new HD footage looks. WOW!

I’ll have to watch the entire series all over again to see if I can spot the differences. Great stuff from CBS and Michael and Denise Okuda; and these two are amazing individuals in the Star Trek realm.
