Warp Drives Just got a lot More Possible!

November 26, 2012

The energy needed to power a warp drive used to be equal to the mass of Jupiter. New theories postulate it could be revamped to be closer to less than a ton. That’s a lot less. Here’s a link to an article about it.

The key phrase is “White speculates that such a drive could result in “speeds” that could take a spacecraft to Alpha Centauri in a mere two weeks — even though the system is 4.3 light-years away.” Speeds is in quotes because the vehicle doesn’t really move, it just warps space around it, expanding space behind it and contracting space in front of it, to achieve seemingly impossible faster-than-light speed.

I may not see it, but Emma’s gonna get to go to stars.
