Locked and Loaded (almost)

January 8, 2013

As of yesterday, Sympathy Pains is now at picture lock!

And so begins the long process of making all the different version that people need, along with cue sheets and other accoutrement (spelled it right on the first try). Just in writing these first three sentencess (including just now) I’ve stopped to fix something on the computer at least 4 times.

The versions include: picture with all sound, including the temp music; picture with sound effects, but no music for my composer; then a version with just dialogue for my sound designers. Some versions need timecode burned into the screen, and other don’t. And all of them need to be compressed into an easy-on-the-processor video format so they play back while playing 24 tracks of audio. And then broken into around 10 minute reels, so as not to overtax the software having to work on longer pieces than 10-15 minutes at a time.

Not necessarily the most interesting of days. I’m trying to let the excitement of the picture lock bleed into the boredom of making video renders, but it’s not working so well.
