The Sound (Recording) of Music

December 24, 2013

Was just pointed to an interesting article by a Northwestern Alumnus who wrote about working with the orchestra on the live Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood. All performance notes aside, the production is a massive undertaking. The orchestra was prerecorded, and that’s what Ian (who wrote the article) talks about.

Most interesting fact? They had orchestra playback, backed up with a second playback, backed up with a guy on a keyboard, who played the show the whole time, just in case they had to cut to him mid-song. How fun if that had kicked in?
